Build the student anti-war movement in Boston!
Anti-war student organizng meeting Friday, 10/7 at Northeastern U.
5:30, building and room To Be Announced.

The start of the school year has brought with it a rise in anti-war
activism. The spectacular anti-war demonstration on September 24 in Washington DC mobilized 250,000 people from all around the country, inspiring new and experienced activists to take action to end the US occupation of Iraq. In the schools and on the campuses of Boston, there have been organizing meetings, educational events, vigils and demonstrations. These have been organized by existing anti-war groups, but there are many students in the city who would like to start new anti-war organizations at their schools and on their campuses.

The Northeastern University Campus Against War and Racism (NUCAWR) has had a busy and exciting past few weeks, organizing meetings on
campus, attending anti-war events around Boston, and organizing vans to go to the September 24 demonstration. As we build at Northeastern, we are meeting anti-war students from other schools and campuses. While organizing vans to go down to D.C., we ended up meeting student antiwar activists and groups from approximately 15 colleges and highschools around the Boston area. It is becoming clear that anti-war students need to link up around the city, learning from and supporting each other in our work at our campuses and schools, and working together on city-wide events. Here are just a few upcoming possibilities for organzing:

- sharing information with each other about building anti-war
committees on our campuses and in our schools
- mobilizing for the anti-war demonstration on October 29 in downtown Boston
- going to the national "On the Frontlines" student anti-war
conference in Berkely, CA (organized by the Campus
Anti-war Network)
- organizing the petition campaign to win a ballot initiative calling
for the withdrawal or the MA Nat'l Guard from Iraq

This is a short list, but in a city with so many campuses and high
schools, the sky's the limit! NUCAWR is calling an organizing meeting for anti-war high school or college students to link up and organize in Boston. NUCAWR is a part of the Campus Anti-war Network (CAN), a nationwide network of high school and campus based anti-war committees, and we can also discuss CAN's counter-recruitment andother campaigns, in addition to the national conference in Berkeley mentioned above. The meeting will be held at 5:30 at Northeastern on Friday 10/7. As of now, we are still trying to get a room, but we wanted to get the word out as soon as possible!

For more info, email neucawr@yahoo.com, or call Khury at 617 739 9217.
