Hey y'all,
I got this over the wire this afternoon from my friend, Kumalisa. I haven't seen/heard anything else about it, so who knows what the turn-out will be (I'm realizing increasingly how fragmented we became as a movement for awhile, and how, now people seem to really be coming together around Cindy Sheehan and the disastrous results of Bush's policy towards FEMA and consequently to the people of New Orleans.)
but I am going to try really hard to make it with flyers, etc.... Still, I would like to propose to the outreach committee that we have a sign-up sheet that we circulate around the Cambridge Commons, as well as at the evening event (which I know I can't go to). I hope the meeting went well last night, sorry that I couldn't make it! I look forward to Monday.
in solidarity,
Sarah Pearlstein
SATURDAY:
Peace Rally & Lecture
Strong Voices for Peace are Touring the Country
Join them Saturday in Boston
Saturday, September 17th, 3:00 pm.
Rally at Cambridge Common
Boston, MA
TrueMajority members have been very generous in supporting the work of Cindy Sheehan, Celeste Zappala, Melanie House, and other mothers and wives of fallen soldiers as they speak out boldly for peace in Iraq. Now those voices, along with veterans who know the true cost of this war and military families who are paying that price, are touring the country. They're knitting together a nationwide movement, and they'll be in your area Saturday, September 17th.
At 3:00 pm., these veterans and families will tell their stories at a rally at the Cambridge Common (the Harvard Square T stop) in Boston, MA. Join these members of Military Families Speak Out, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Gold Star Families for Peace and Veterans For Peace in speaking out for bringing our troops home. If a storm comes into the area this day please call 617-354-2169 for relocation information.
Then at 7:00, join us for an evening forum at the BU Law School Auditorium (765 Commonwealth Ave, behind Marsh Chapel), where members of the Bring Them Home Now Bus Tour will tell about their travels across the country working to bring our troops home. Cindy Sheehan, whose vigil outside President Bush's vacation ranch inspired the tour and re-invigorated the peace movement, will be there too.
Come and join in. Together, we ARE the peace movement.
