I agree with Amee and Ty and Keith.
It is not right to use procedural arguments against an anti-racist demand. Vote against it and argue the political content if you think it should not be on the flyer. It is also not right to counterpose the fact that other people are oppressed as a reason why we should not take up the racism against arabs and muslims. Also, with no WMDs and no liberation or democracy going on.. racism is becoming the central justification for the war. Listen to Bush
It is never "too late" to take a stand against the racism that is fueling the war. The next 3 weeks will be when the vast majority of building for the demo takes place. Having an antiracist demand will make the demonstration bigger and better. Also, debate and heated political discussion is what democracy looks like. Clearly the debate and discussion about this demand was not had out fully at the last meeting, as shown by all the people raising new debate about this on the listserve.
Also, I recently heard back from Veterans for Peace and VFP Chapter 9 would like to endorse. We had another good leafletting at Ruggles today, with most people definitely interested. An antiracist demand will only help strengthen and broaden these efforts.
Democracy and debate is the only way to build a movement. It is a sign of health. No demonstration ever decided its demands months before the event (unless it was only organized by a handfull of people).
