Hi. Well i know i haven't been involved much with the antiwar movement
locally, but i think there are two things that kinda need to happen. the
arab/muslim community needs to be able to speak out at all times, not only
when something directly affecting them occur. Like romney's claims mobilized
a handful of muslims and arabs. but they need to be constantly involved. i
grew up as a muslim and i used to go to rallies all the time, when i hit
college, it was just like yearly trips down to DC. i stopped hearing about
local ones ect. That's the one main problem, we stop hearing about the
events (i'd guess you'd call them) around boston. im not really sure how i
got onto this mailing list, but i definately would love to support it and
help advertise within the Muslim and Arab community. I'm also a student at
Umass boston, and i honestly haven't seen any flyers there. so i was
thinking of posting some up, unless that's already being taken care of..
i would have love to come in and help out on friday at ruggles at 530, but i
dont know how many of you are aware that it's ramadan, so it's kind of an
unwritten rule that when it's time to break your fast (around 6) that we
have to do it with family and friends.
one question though, what would you mean by all white? i mean after all i am
arab (parents) i was born and raised here, i'm white, and religion like
Islam doesn't define your race. It's a bigger part of who you are :-)
honestly i know a good handful of people, who would love to join if they
were given more accessible time. but i could probably get them to come to
the rally.
i feel as though pastor niemuller's quote basically says that after his
experience with a non-supportive history, he doesn't want that mistake to
reoccur. and i mean everyone is open to have their interpretation :-)
good morning.
